LEVELING FLOOR PREPARATION

As with so many things in life and in professional work, diligent and meticulous preparation is the difference between a leveling disaster and a complete success.

Definitely, the biggest concern with wall-to-wall leveling is a leak by far. Remember that the self-leveling compound is poured quite runny.

In a hi-rise condo setting; that can potentially cause water damage to your underneath neighbours’ ceiling, walls, flooring, and in a really terrible case multiple units down.

Sealing your home from the leveling compound is not the only concern. We must ensure that the sub floor is clean and tolerant of the compound.

That means that we must remove or scrape certain types of deteriorated floors, concrete, adhesives, and in most cases apply the appropriate primer to ensure that the leveling compound bonds to the subfloor.

This depends on what we are leveling over and how deep we are pouring.

If the leveling compound doesn’t stick to the underneath, in the best-case scenario a bubble will form that will have to be torn out and fixed, and in the worst scenario, the entire leveling compound will crack and flake off…

The leveling floor process is another matter

We made our home page picture look like we are doing magic because leveling a floor really is a work of art

and quick coordinated hard work! The most significant factor in working with the leveling compound is the mixing.

Everything from the amount of water, time, mixing paddle shape, and modifiers used will affect its consistency and its final quality.

Add to that that the temperature both in the subfloor and the air, relative humidity, and pour timing all play significant factors in a job well done!

THE BIG QUESTION – HOW MUCH LEVELING BAGS DO I NEED???

After averaging the square footage to the amount of bags we have used in various projects to get the floors flat.

we have populated that 1 bag of self-leveling compound covers about 15 square feet.

This is based on consistent but minor deviations in your subfloor with a few exceptional sots as deep as 3/8” of an inch.

For our prices or a more accurate estimate please call us for a consultation. We will ask you about the setting we will be working in

what kind of subfloor we are dealing with, the final product flooring you are planning to install, and the size of the job.

We will then schedule an estimate, and following approval of that, we will confirm a date to complete the job.

In most cases, the leveling is completed in one day. In some cases, we may have to return the following day for minor touchups and it is highly recommended.

your installer tests the freshly poured leveling compound for humidity before installation. We provide our floor leveling services in Vancouver and outskirt cities.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH YOU!
